Westfield GTM Sports Spyder
The GTM Sports Spyder is designed as a two-seat sports car with the signature convertible roof. The design is streamlined and sporty, with an emphasis on low weight and agility. The GTM uses a chassis made of aluminum and steel tubing, resulting in added rigidity and light weight. This light weight is beneficial to the car's overall performance and handling. With only 30 units produced, it is definitely a unique thing, which will attract a lot of attention.
The 1.8 160hp VVC engine, carefully positioned for ideal weight distribution. Twin Recaro bucket seats. And a total weight of only 770 kg. Because of its low weight and sporty design, the GTM Sports Spyder can deliver impressive performance. With its great power-to-weight ratio, the car can offer fast acceleration and good cornering performance, making it a popular choice for car enthusiasts looking for an exciting driving experience.
The GTM Spyder was born out of a collaboration between two British kit car manufacturers: GTM Cars and Westfield Sports Cars. GTM Cars was known for its focus on lightweight construction and performance design, while Westfield Sports Cars was known for producing kit cars with high-quality, comfortable handling. The GTM Spyder was a result of this collaboration, hence the name "Westfield GTM Sports Spyder."
The expert says you can best describe the Westfield GTM Sports Spyder as a cross between a Lotus Super Seven and a Lotus Elise. Production of the GTM Sports Spyder began in the late 1990s and continued into the early 2000s. At the time, the cars were available as kit cars. The car's popularity was mainly due to its unique combination of performance, lightweight construction and striking design. The handling is phenomenal, but more comfortable than that of an Elise. Partly because of the extra luggage space, it is also a suitable car for weekend driving.
Our opinion
Considering only 30 examples of it exist, the GTM succeeds in terms of exclusivity. This combined with its striking red exterior and options like the Recaro bucket seats and MOMO steering wheel and shift lever, this is definitely an eye-catcher. A true Collectable if you ask us!
