How to sell your Collectable in 7 steps with The Collectables
Our process from submission to delivery
The 7 steps
Here you'll find seven clear steps that show what we do for you and your Collectable, from submission right through delivery.
Step 1: Submit your Collectable
Want to list your car through The Collectables?
Fill out the request form, and we will contact you within one business day after reviewing your submission.
Step 2: Initial assessment
Once we have agreed on the terms and the expected proceeds, we will ask you to provide as much relevant information and documentation about your Collectable as possible, so we can give the best and fairest representation of your Collectable. We do this with the help of our (Google) information form, which we will send to you. If desired, we can schedule an intake and guide you through the process.
The information form also serves as the confirmation of the agreement. As a seller, you will only pay for the photographer’s fees. If desired, we can deploy additional marketing efforts, with the costs discussed in advance.
Step 3: Photoshoot
Once we receive your information form, we'll connect you with a professional car photographer who will schedule a photo shoot of 150 to 200 photos. These photos become yours, and we'll use them for our auction ad.
The photographer will deliver the photos with the correct editing and in the correct format for our website. They will immediately send you an invoice for the photo costs (approximately €300 including VAT).
If you'd also like a short (30-50 seconds) but professional film shoot of your car, which we can use on social media, you can arrange this directly with the photographer. The additional cost is approximately €150 including VAT.
Step 4: Auction preparation
Once we have received the photos, we will announce the car on our "Expected" page. We will do this with a few photos and a brief description to "warm up" the bidders.
Step 5: Storytelling
In the meantime, we will get to work and create the lot description. Before the auction begins, the draft version will be submitted to you for approval.
Step 6: Auction goes live
Once we have received your approval for the text, we will put the lot online and bidding will begin from that moment. The starting price is deliberately set low to get the auction started. Experience shows that most bids are placed towards the end of the auction.
Step 7: Transaction & delivery
Once your pre-determined minimum sale price (the 'reserve') is reached, the highest bidder wins the auction. After the auction ends, the buyer pays the commission to The Collectables, after which we will connect the buyer and seller to complete the transaction.
If the reserve is not reached, we will mediate between you as the seller and the highest bidder(s) to see if an agreement can still be made. If that is not possible, we will re-auction the car.
