Volvo V60 T6 Polestar
We know Polestar these days for its driving hoovers (just kidding). A sensible choice for the environment and otherwise a great alternative to Tesla and consort.
Not sensible, but much more fun, are the V60 Polestars that came with a tuned T6 in 2014 and 2015. Polestar once started as a race team for Volvo and kicked off as the brand's in-house tuner. The AMG of Volvo shall we say. Only 40 V60 Polestars were allocated to the Dutch importer and featured a 3-litre six-in-line with, thanks to turbo pressure increased to 1.2 bar, a new intercooler and a stainless steel exhaust system, 350 hp and 500 Nm. The automatic transmission was also addressed, allowing launch control and shorter shift times. The four-wheel drive system was modified, bringing more power to the rear wheels. A very capable all-rounder with many modifications of which a sophisticated Öhlins suspension was one. 0-100 km/h in just 5 seconds and the top speed was limited to 250 km/h. That's different from a contemporary Volvo that calls it a day at 180 km/h. Further modifications included: Polestar front strut bridge reinforced with carbon fibre, 80% stiffer Polestar springs compared to the S/V60 T6 R-Design, Stiffer Polestar front and rear top bearings, Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/35 ZR20 on special Polestar rims. In addition, the Polestar was equipped with Launch control and a Polestar calibrated ‘stability control’ system. To bring all the violence to a halt, a Brembo braking system was fitted with six pistons per caliper and 371mm brake discs.
The Polestar offered here comes from (how could it be otherwise) Sweden and was neatly maintained there at the Volvo dealer(s). The T6 versions (later only the 4 cylinders were available) were only available in 2014 and 2015 and were only produced in limited numbers. As far as we know, only 1,500 T6 Polestars were made. In addition, supply is very limited and, at the time of writing, not a single one is for sale. The car has been used for what it was made for and thus does not have virgin mileage, but of course, for a Volvo, 150,000km is nothing at all.
Our opinion
Actually the last fun Volvo. Lots of power from a real engine and lots of modifications that have really been thought through to make it a very good car that you can actually do anything with. Nice and fast to winster sports, a lap around the track, but also just taking the kids to school. Of course the bright blue colour is cooler, but the anonymity of this Polestar still has something and makes it easier to use for business.

Notes
This V60 is in clean but used condition. The car has some signs of use, as can be seen in the photos. Furthermore, the navigation does not always start up, but nobody will use a 2014 navi anymore we think. Very occasionally the airbag light flashes, but no fault can be found with readouts. It could be related to a loose contact under the seat.
