Volkswagen Golf GTi Cabriolet
The Volkswagen Golf GTi is an icon and a car that you can be seen with everywhere. In the meantime, the "Golfje" GTi from 1976 has become a very serious car and is still the benchmark in many areas. Three years later, the successor to the Beetle Cabriolet appeared, the Golf Cabriolet. The Golf Cabriolet was eventually produced until 2016 and did not have a successor. The GTI Cabriolet distinguishes itself in the same way as the "closed" GTI does with a honeycomb grille with red piping, different bumpers, exhausts and in the interior the well-known GTI diamond pattern on the sports seats. The (standard) electrically operated hood opens or closes within ten seconds and this can even be done while driving, up to 30 kmh, which is nice in the country of traffic jams and many rain showers. A strong advantage of the Golf Cabrio is functionality and ease of use, and everything in the place where you expect it. The build quality is noticeable in the torsional stiffness of this convertible, because VW has simply got that right. Fortunately, the convertible is equipped with 210 hp because the convertible weighs 200 kg more than the hatchback.
How nice is it that we can auction a Golf convertible of the latest type with only 36,000 km. The car was delivered in Germany to the first owner and is equipped with, among other things, the flawlessly switching DSG, automatic climate control, cruise control, 18 inch rims, seat heating and rain sensor. The Golf has had a total of 2 owners and has a full maintenance history. The car also has the special feature that it is equipped with a mother-of-pearl paint.
Our opinion
As already said, the Golf is an all-rounder. As a convertible, there is an additional nice bonus. It is well put together, steers, brakes and drives as it should and just looks nice without exaggerating. An 11 year old example with only 35000km is rare and therefore ideal as a nice weather car. Also very practical and also very usable on the long journey.
