Subaru Impreza GT Turbo 2.0 AWD

The Subaru Impreza GT Turbo hardly needs an introduction among enthusiasts. Thanks to its impressive successes in international rally racing, the characteristic 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer engine, and permanent four-wheel drive, the Impreza GT Turbo grew into an absolute icon in the 1990s. That popularity was certainly not limited to rally racing. The road version also became wildly popular. The combination of appealing performance, four-wheel drive, the typical sound of the boxer engine, and the direct link to the rally world made the Impreza GT Turbo a car that was high on the wish list of many enthusiasts. It is precisely this popularity that has ensured that many examples have been used, tuned, or modified intensively over the years. As a result, original, well-preserved cars are becoming increasingly scarce. And that is exactly where this example distinguishes itself.

This Impreza GT Turbo was originally delivered in the Netherlands, has remained within the same family since new, and has effectively had only two drivers. With a verifiable NAP mileage of only 91,680 km, this is by now a remarkable combination. The way the car has been preserved over the years also contributes to its character. The car has always been kept in its own parking space in a ventilated garage, which has contributed to its preservation. At least as important is that the owners have always consciously opted for originality. No engine tuning, large exhausts, or other drastic modifications, but an Impreza GT Turbo as it was meant to be. Maintenance was carried out for many years by Subaru dealer Autobedrijf Van Tol in Hilversum and later by Garage Van Zanten in Bussum. The corresponding maintenance documentation and invoices are present. While many examples were delivered in blue, silver, or black, this car is finished in Sedona Red Pearl, a special color that is encountered considerably less often and that perfectly suits the distinctive character of the car. The car shows signs of wear consistent with its age and mileage. But it is precisely as a whole that this is a particularly attractive Impreza GT Turbo: original, unmolested, low mileage, and well-documented.

Our opinion

Original Subaru Impreza GT Turbos are becoming increasingly difficult to find. With this particular example, the appeal lies primarily in the combination of Dutch delivery, low verifiable mileage, long-term family ownership, the original specification, and extensive documentation. A GT Turbo for the enthusiast who values ​​a genuine, well-documented, and unmolested Impreza.

About the seller

To the current owner, this Impreza GT Turbo has always meant much more than just a car.

The Impreza GT Turbo was purchased new in 1999 by his brother-in-law, who enjoyed driving it and treated the car with care. Sadly, he passed away in 2006. After his death, the car was registered in his wife's name as part of the estate. She never drove the car herself. The car remained in their garage for nearly another year after that, as she understandably could not yet part with it. Eventually, the current owner acquired the car from her. In this way, the car remained within the family, and the special history associated with it was preserved. Although the Impreza GT Turbo has been registered under three names, it has actually had only two drivers: the original owner and the current owner. For the current owner, it was important to preserve the car as it is. This meant handling the car with care, having maintenance performed on time, and refraining from tuning or modifications. After more than 25 years within the same family, the time has come for him to pass the car on. Preferably to the next enthusiast who understands what makes an original Impreza GT Turbo special and who will treat the car with the same care and appreciation.
