In 2006, Alpina started developing the B3. Although it was expected that a big V8 would be installed, a modified version of the BMW N54 was installed in the front, known from the 335i, among other things. The engine received an Alpina-specific ECU, oil cooler and, very importantly, lighter and stronger MAHLE pistons with which the engine delivered 360 hp and 500 Nm that are clearly audible through the Akrapovic exhaust system. Coupled with an automatic ZF transmission (Switch Tronic with significantly shorter shift times), you could effortlessly go from 0-100 kmh in less than 5 seconds!
The appearance was adapted in the well-known Alpina manner with optional Alpina striping, a front spoiler with Alpina lettering, a rear spoiler and a lightweight Akrapovic exhaust with four pipes. There was also a choice of three 20-spoke alloy wheels and the interior of course had the Alpina logos and almost all available BMW options and could be fully adapted to the customer's wishes. The chassis is really Alpina style with fantastic road holding and yet a lot of comfort.
