About this Collectable

Porsche Boxster 3.4S (987)

In 1993, the study model of the Porsche Boxster was presented at the Detroit Motor Show. Inspired by the 550 spider, the study model looked slick and received a lot of positive feedback. When the first generation Boxster (986) was launched in 1996, with a delicious 2.5-litre 6-cylinder boxer engine, it was also an instant success and sales figures exceeded all expectations. So, in order for the car to hitch a ride on the new 911 generation (997), the second-generation Boxster (987) was launched in 2004, which also became available in a closed version (the Cayman). The centrally mounted exhaust (also a reference to the 550) was retained as was the mid-engine concept which makes for a fantabulous steering roadster. The interior was refreshed and the engines got a larger displacement with, of course, more power. The 3.4 produced a whopping 295hp and 340NM of torque.
The beautifully complete Boxster S we have here in the auction is such a 3.4 S where the automatic gearbox is a delightful combo with the torque delivered by the engine, thus perfectly matching the character of an open car. Although the car comes with an extra set of winter tyres (with rims) and a hardtop, the Boxster has hardly been used in winter (only on dry days). Furthermore, it comes with nice options like PCM, Bose sound system, leather interior and Bi-Xenon headlights. Of course, this convertible does not lack seat heating! Delivered in Germany, in the Netherlands since 10 years and always neatly maintained by dealer and specialist.

Our opinion

A Porsche Boxster is a lot of car for your money, especially if you compare it to a comparable 911, which quickly costs double (and secretly drives less well). This is a neat Boxster with, as far as we know, 2 Dutch and 1 German owner. It is a timeless sports car with character in neat condition. The car falls within the favourable Youngtimer scheme, so it is also an interesting alternative for business purposes.

Notes

This Boxster S is in neat but used condition and still completely original. Some light stone chips betray its age and mileage, otherwise the car is completely damage-free. According to the owner, always stored inside, has a ‘dry’ engine and no oil consumption. Recently, the automatic gearbox was overhauled and fitted with a new speed selector. The water pump was also recently replaced, as was the battery.
