About this Collectable

In 1964, the Porsche 911 first became available as the successor to the 356, faster, roomier, and fitted with a genuine 6-cylinder boxer. Even the 356 was already a smooth and sporty coupé, but the 911 was still clearly a step ahead. That the 911, despite its unusual concept (engine at the back) would become such a success, Ferry Porsche never dared to dream. Not only the sporty motorist knew how to appreciate the 911, the car also became an icon in rally and racing. The T models of the 911 are and were the 911's entry-level but still always something special. So special in fact, that Porsche has also had a ‘T’ in its range since the 991 series. A car that brings everyone back to the essence of motoring without unnecessary luxury and fuss. The first T models entered the market in late 1968 as a 2-litre. Later, the 2.2 litre was introduced and the last T models had 2.4 litre capacity. Admittedly ‘only’ 140hp, but its lower weight and nice torque made it a very smooth car and faster than the earlier S models.

The 911 2.4T offered here was delivered in 1973 in the US to the first owner in the colour black. Remarkably, the car is equipped with an electric (and good working) sunroof! That drives a lot better than a Targa which you can't really drive open from 100kmh. It was recently professionally restored by Porsche specialist Erpa, among others. Bodywork, sheet metal, engine and gearbox have all been revised and restored. Everything neatly supported by many invoices totalling some 85,000,- euros, and probably many more thousands of euros have gone into it. The ‘matching’ engine starts immediately, runs smoothly and hangs on the throttle wonderfully. Our photographer took the car for the photo shoot and returned with a broad smile on his face. How well such a thing drives he said after getting out of the car and that for a more than 50-year-old car! The paintwork is neat and everything looks fresh and tidy.

Our opinion

The 911 2.4T we offer here is a really nice F-series 911. Well restored, equipped with a rare sunroof and a lovely driver. The last owner put serious money (probably 100k plus without the investment in the car) into the car to make it a nice and fresh one again. A car you can really enjoy. If you buy a refurbisher yourself, you'll probably spend a lot more than buying this ready-made car.

About the seller

The last owner had the 911 taken care of immediately after purchase and had everything tackled. It was his childhood dream and the car had to be restored to its full potential. No expense was spared. Unfortunately, he didn't get to drive it much as his private situation changed, leaving no room for a third car. He drove less than 1000km with it......
