Porsche Boxster (987) 3.4 PDK Black Edition 

With an output of 235 kW (320 hp), the Porsche Boxster Black Edition was 10hp (and 10NM) more powerful than the Boxster S and featured even richer standard equipment. The Black Edition was (you wouldn't expect it...) all in black including black paint, a black hood with the Black Edition logo and black 19-inch Boxster Spyder wheels.
The colour concept of the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition was implemented in detail. For example, the intake grilles in the rear side panels are also painted black, as are the dual end pipes of the exhaust system, the roll bars and model designation on the tailgate done in black. The black theme of the exterior naturally continues in the interior as well. The door sill panels feature a 'Black Edition' logo finished in black and the Sport Design steering wheel features (black) leather. The trim strips on the dashboard and on the PDK selector lever are also finished in black, as are the instrument cluster dials. The headrests of the is embossed with the Porsche logo and Black Edition is further emphasised by the plaque with production number on the glove box.

Standard features of the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition included the Comfort, Infotainment and Design packages, a windshield behind the seats, automatic dimming interior and exterior mirrors, integrated rain sensor, cruise control and automatic air conditioning. Also present: Porsche Communication Management (PCM) including navigation module, Sound Package Plus and Bi-xenon headlights.
The chassis of the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition is extra sportily tuned and equipped with black ten-spoke Boxster Spyder wheels.

The Black Edition we offered comes with the fast S engine with an extra 10hp and PDK gearbox. This makes the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h just 5.1 seconds. The car was delivered new by Porsche Centrum Kuwait to a Dutch expat in June 2012 and came with us to the Netherlands in 2019. In early 2020, the current (and thus 2nd) owner bought this exceptionally richly equipped Boxster S with 136,400km. The car had had a comprehensive major service at the Porsche centre and was subsequently neatly maintained at a local car company in den Bosch. The last service was in December 2023. This is number 779 of only 987 versions of the Black Edition series produced. Exclusivity therefore guaranteed. Equipped with the three-spoke sports steering wheel with double spokes as well as the sought-after shift paddles behind the steering wheel instead of the push buttons on the steering wheel. Besides the aforementioned options, the logos in the headrests and the red brake calipers finish it off. Apart from some signs of use, the car is in clean condition.

Our opinion     

The Boxster was always a bit the underdog. Those days are over. Boxsters of the 1st series are now starting to get expensive and the 987 was (and is) a whole step better and at the time partly based on the 911 (type 997). The 3.4-litre engine no longer has the ills of first series water-cooled engines and, combined with the PDK gearbox, is a joy to drive. The Black Editions were the send-off model of the 987 series and therefore very fully equipped. Take the engine from the at least 2x as expensive 987 Spyder and you'll know why this is actually a super offer. A great opportunity to buy a complete and well-documented Boxster from the 2nd owner.

About the seller

The seller was looking for his first sports car in 2020. A long-held wish. Searching for an affordable 997, he was alerted to this black Boxster from the first Dutch owner. After a test drive, he was immediately won over. The agility, courtesy of the mid-engine, the experience, the open roof and not forgetting the very complete equipment were the immediate deciding factors. He has done 20,000 great kilometres with it, but due to the home situation, driving is actually no longer an option and the Boxster can go to a new owner.

Remarks 

The car is in fine condition and has signs of use befitting its age and mileage. The rear bumper once had damage with the first owner and has been professionally repaired. The driver's seat has some step wear and there is a small crack in the bumper just below the headlight. Unfortunately, the tailgate control button has broken off and needs to be replaced. The convertible top is still in good condition.
