For as long as it lasts, the 996 generation offers the most 911 for your money. The 996 series, introduced in 1997, is finally starting to receive the appreciation it deserves, and it turns out there is nothing wrong with water cooling. Moreover, in this generation of 911, all the switches are in the right place, you have good air conditioning, and an even more compact body compared to the current model range. Perhaps most importantly: A 996 is still affordable compared to a 964 or 993 and drives much better! The 996 was available as a Coupé and Cabriolet, and later even as a Targa. Additionally, you could choose between an automatic or manual transmission and 2- or 4-wheel drive. This 996 actually combines the best of both worlds. It is a Cabriolet, but with the included hardtop, it is essentially just a coupé that you can also use in poorer weather conditions. Furthermore, it is a clean example with a lot of history.
