About this Collectable
Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4 Cabriolet (Manual)
As described earlier on a recently sold lot, the 996 generation is the most 911 per for your money. This generation 911 finally has all the switches where you expect them and a not-too-big body with the necessary safety systems. Come and find that with a 964, 993 or G-model two (or three) times as expensive. Right from the start, Porsche also supplied the Carrera with 4-wheel drive. From the MK2 onwards also as a 4S. A manual 996 Carrera 4 (like this one) may lack the fat ass of the 4S, but its lower weight and better streamline make it the faster of the 2.
This 996 of the 2nd series, started life on 19 March 2003 and was delivered by Porsche Mannheim and arrived in the Netherlands just 2 years later. Probably this owner lived close to the border as he had the 996 serviced at Porsche Aachen. Afterwards, the car was serviced by Porsche specialist Aarts in Asten and BMW specialist Meeg, among others. It is a manual gearbox, which obviously adds to the driving pleasure compared to the somewhat sluggish automatic gearbox. The 3.6 litre engine has a sonorous sound, probably due to fitting a sports exhaust. As far as we can tell, everything works properly, the engine does not smoke and, as far as we know, no strange side noises. The car has been well used over the years and certainly not a trailer queen. The penultimate owner just used it daily, so this 996 deserves some love and attention to get it back into top condition. Meanwhile, the car has a fresh MOT and comes with a hardtop and windscreen
Our opinion
If you want to get into the 911 world then this could be a great opportunity. As indicated, the car needs some love, but can of course be used simply as a daily driver. Thanks to the padded hood (and of course the four-wheel drive) it is perfectly usable in winter, and from spring onwards the party can of course start with the hood open.

About the seller
The seller bought the car through The Collectables as a surprise for his wife. He had the car MOTed, the rims refurbished, new rear tyres fitted and found the hardtop matching the car's colour and a matching windshield. Unfortunately, she thought of a more practical vehicle herself, so he is now offering the car again at auction.
