About this Collectable
Porsche 993 Carrera Coupé Manual
The 993 is so beloved not only because it is the last of the air-cooled 911s, but also because the 993 combines a classic body with modern performance and handling. In other words, the best of both worlds. While the 964 was already a (technical) metamorphosis compared to the Carrera 3.2, the 993 takes this a step further with a more streamlined body, a state-of-the-art rear suspension and an improved (and faster) 3.6-litre boxer. Naturally, many versions of the 993 were again marketed such as coupé, convertible and targa. Of course also the turbo and RS models and some more specials like the GT2. Surely a 993 in its purest form is the coupé with manual transmission. Offered as a base with rear-wheel drive, but also in the wide versions as 2S and 4S.
The Carrera offered here is the version that stays closest to the Porsche philosophy: light, simple and solid, which makes it extra fun. With rear-wheel drive, manual transmission and an atmospheric block, this car is actually more purist than most other variants and on top of that, the 993 Carrera Coupé is, after the Carrera RS, the lightest version of the 911. Still, a 993 Carrera is a seriously fast car. 272hp and 330NM may not seem like everything, but a top speed of 270kmh and 0-100 acceleration in just 5.5sec remain very good performances, thanks in part to its weight of just 1350kg. Delivered in Schiefergrau metallic directly from the factory to the first German owner, a so-called Werksauslieferung! Also equipped with air conditioning, sunroof and a board computer, of course. Optically and technically upgraded with a Bilstein suspension, 18-inch Turbo wheels and RS skirts. With only 168,000km on the odometer only just driven in and always neatly maintained by almost exclusively Porsche dealers. Before delivery, the 993 gets a new MOT and fresh oil and filters at Porsche Gelderland.
Our opinion
The opinion of the writer of this story is somewhat coloured. He himself drove a 993 for over 400,000km without any problems. Still regrets the sale at the time. A 993 is really a very good car, if well maintained problem-free and very reliable. As a Carrera 2, one of the nicest versions without fuss and nice and light weight. A great opportunity for an enthusiast of the last air-cooled Porsches.

Notes
Naturally, this Porsche has some signs of use that are to be expected on a 31-year-old car:
Some parts of the car were once painted by a recognised body shop as a result of parking damage and or vandalism, but the paint thicknesses indicate cosmetic paintwork.

The current owner bought this 993 in 2012 and used it purely as a hobby alongside his 996 Turbo. In the first few years, he used it for many trips, but in recent years it hasn't gotten around to it anymore. Therefore, he has decided to sell the 993 via The Collectables.
