About this Collectable

Is the 993 the pinnacle of the 911 range? Many think so. The 993 is loved not only because it is the last of the air-cooled 911s, but also because the 993 combines a classic body with modern performance and driving characteristics. The best of both worlds. This example is finished in the stylish colour Ocean Blue with a black interior, has a little more than a ton on the odometer and is equipped with the Tiptronic gearbox. A stylish daily driver.

Within the 993 line-up, the Carrera S (also known as the Carrera 2S) is the version you want. Not because it is the fastest or very rarest version, but because the Carrera S combines the best components. This version has the wide body of the Turbo, but with rear-wheel drive only. In addition, the Carrera S is lighter than a 4S, which makes it slightly faster as well.

The 993 Carrera S also distinguishes itself visually with the split air intake in body colour on the back. The increased track width and the lowered chassis ensure that the Carrera S has an improved handling compared to the regular Carrera. The Carrera (2)S was lowered with 10 mm at the front and 20mm at the rear. Together with the 60 mm wider body, this creates an impressive rear view. Or, to put it a bit more blunt: a nice ass.

The air-cooled boxer six-cylinder engine from the Carrera S produces 285 hp and 340 Nm of torque. The 993 Carrera S sprints to 100 km/h in 5,4 seconds. The top speed is 270 km/h. That's still pretty fast even by today's standards.

The Carrera S is quite a rare car, partly due to the fact that this version was only in production for two years. Of the 68.029 Porsche 993's that were built, only 3.714 were a Carrera S. This is one of the reasons that this is a very desirable car.

This 993 rolled off the production line in December 1996 and was first registered in Germany in 1997. The car was imported into the Netherlands in 2003.The current owner was able to take over the car from an acquaintance in 2015, but has only driven 400 kilometers since then.

  • A few small signs of use on the paintwork of the car
  • Minor damage to the seat controls

About the seller

The current owner bought the 993 in 2015 from a friend who had driven about 17.000 kilometers in ten years time. Since the purchase, however, the Carrera S has mainly been a garage queen. The seller has only driven 400 kilometers with it since he purchased it in 2015. It didn't turn out to be a practical family car for the weekends and they were simly to busy to go out and enjoy the Porsche fot a tour without the kids. A shame of course, so the owner finally decided to sell the car.
