About this Collectable

Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Coupé

The 964 combines the best of both worlds. When it was introduced in 1989, the iconic lines of the primal 911 remained largely intact, but in the meantime 85% of the car was new. Equipped with power steering, ABS and a modern chassis, among other things, it is a classic which, by classic standards, is easy and good to drive. The bumpers were given more modern styling and, for the sake of handling at high speed, the car was given a fold-out spoiler, something Porsche still applies today.
For the 964, a new 3.6-litre engine was developed from the existing 3.2 Mezger block, which still makes the true air-cooled boxer engine sound. This is good for 250 hp. This means that, even by today's standards, this 964 still gets off the ground perfectly, thanks in part to its four-wheel drive. In the 964, tiptronic (rear-wheel drive only) and all-wheel drive were available for the first time.
This car is a true driver's version with manual gearbox and all-wheel drive. The version has an ultimate classic colour combination of Polar Grey with natural leather. Furthermore, this 964 just has the classic 964 rims and the so-called flap ears as mirrors. Just completely original as it should be.

This Porsche saw the light of day on 25 September 1989 and was admitted to Germany after which the 964 came to the Netherlands in 2001.
All 3 Dutch owners have taken good care of it. The current owner bought the car just under 11 years ago, after a purchase inspection by Porsche Twente. In 2009, the car had already received a freshly overhauled engine from Inzinger at 183,000km.  The 964 has been painted once and the well-known spots (including at the front and rear windows) have been addressed by Porsche specialist Paul Geeris.

Our opinion

In our opinion, a 964 is and remains THE Porsche that combines the classic look with modern technology. That technology, if properly taken care of, is rock solid and lets you enjoy the classic 911 sound. There are plenty of rebuilt examples out there, but few are as original as this one. No crazy wheels or spoilers, just completely original in a beautiful classic livery.

This 964 coupe is in used condition . The car has signs of use but overall looks very good and mostly original. The air conditioning needs to be checked and is currently not working, but because of the sunroof not really an issue. The car has a comprehensive history during its time in the Netherlands, supported by various invoices and the purchase inspection at Porsche Twente.

About the seller

The 964 coupe is being sold on behalf of a Dutch enthusiast who has owned the car for over 10 years now. By now he has realised that as COO of a start-up and father of a son, he does not have endless time to drive all his cars and has decided to sell a few. He remembers the chills down his spine when, around the age of 12, he first heard the big air-cooled boxer of a (then just launched) 964 rumble - ‘I want that one myself later!’ 24 years later, that dream came true. Naturally, it had to be an air-cooled one, a manual, and a coupé. He fell for the originality of this one, and the special colour combination. Before buying it, he had it inspected at Porsche Centrum Twente, and most of its imperfections had in the meantime been fixed at the specialist. With his son in the back, he regularly drove it back and forth to Switzerland and southern Germany! He still finds the 964 a wonderfully stylish mile-eater, but he no longer gets his son, now in secondary school, in the back of the 911 for long journeys.......
