Porsche 911 Turbo MK1 (997)
The Porsche 997 Turbo MK1 is the last of its kind. As the last Turbo equipped with the indestructible Mezgerm engine, which in turn was finished with the latest VTG (Variable Turbo Geometry) Turbos which, thanks to adjustable vanes, ensured that full turbo pressure was already available at low revs. Compared to the 996 Turbo (which basically had the same engine), the turbo pressure increased from 0.8 to 1.0 bar and even 1.2 bar in sport mode, temporarily making almost 680NM available. The standard torque of 620NM is already available below 2000rpm. Power grew from 420hp to 480hp and provided supercar performance. With a sprint time of 3.7 sec to 100kmh, it is still one of the fastest cars, and it is put on the road without any problems thanks to all-wheel drive. Compared to the 996, a completely newly developed four-wheel-drive system was fitted, the car was slightly lighter and larger 6-pot brakes were fitted, which fit exactly into the 19-inch rims. The Tiptronic (a bit of a dead giveaway in the 996 Turbo anyway) was reprogrammed and adds to the active driving experience. Unlike before, the Tiptronic version is clearly faster than the manual transmission and the ease of doing so is particularly impressive.
The 997 Turbo offered here was delivered in Stuttgart on 7 March 2008 as a so-called "werksauslieferung" to its first Berlin owner. Among the options he had ordered were the Tiptronic transmission with steering wheel controls, seat heating and CD changer. It then moved (as far as can be ascertained) to its 2nd Belgian owner in 2012. Just before Christmas in 2017, the car was brought to the Netherlands and given a major service by Porsche Gelderland including spark plugs and fresh brake fluid. The last Dutch owner only enjoyed it for a limited time. He drove only 7,000km with the 997. The Turbo is in very good condition and with a service and (our advice) 4 fresh tyres it will be ready to go again.
Our opinion
A 997 Turbo continues to capture the imagination. As already mentioned, this is one of the last Mezger models in very good condition, accident-free and almost completely in its first paint (the nose has been repainted once due to stone chips). With only 72,000km on the odometer, only just broken in (the engines easily reach 300,000km or more) and with a service it will be fully fit for many fast miles. Prices are rising by the day, so a great opportunity to strike now.
About the seller
The seller traded the car in at the Porsche dealer for a Macan GTS. He found the 997 not practical enough so the car has hardly been used.

Remarks
The car shows hardly any signs of use. From the contrasting mirror cover, the paint is a bit loose and we recommend a service and 4 new tyres before commissioning. Very extensive maintenance was carried out in 2017 upon delivery and it has hardly been driven after that.
