This 2007 Mercedes CL 500 (W216) can rightly be called something special. And we are not even talking about its well-known (demonstrable) first owner (Dick Advocaat), but mainly about the beautiful condition, complete originality, the complete maintenance history at Mercedes specialists and dealers and the unique color combination. The car comes from a time when this “S-Class Coupé” was equipped with a wonderful 5.5 liter V8 as the base engine with equipment that is not even common in the higher segment a little over 15 years later. Think of a digital dashboard with night-vision, TV and DVD, soft-close doors with double glazing, but also fully electric seats with heating, cooling, ventilation and massage. And automatically inflating cushions in the seats if you go a bit smoother around the corner.
But despite the 388 hp, 530 Nm and the deep hum that the V8 delivers and the high-quality chassis technology, that is actually not where this 2-ton heavy lump of luxury on wheels comes out best. Fully comfortable cruising is what this Collectable is made for. At the time, the starting price of this Mercedes CL was over 150,000 EUR. The current owner bought the car with 50,000 km on the odometer from the second owner, an avid collector of Mercedes automobiles (he owned more than 100 at the time) with a predilection for red cars. That is why he had the car repainted from Obsidian Black to the current Carnelian Red (544), an original Mercedes color. This has been done with the greatest possible care with this car. For example, the insides of the doors are also sprayed. The car now has almost 60,000 kilometers on the odometer and the current owner, a true car enthusiast with a very diverse taste in special cars, is looking for a Collectable with 4 doors due to the recent birth of his daughter.
