About this Collectable
Ferrari 360 Challenge Street Legal
Even more information is in the February issue of Octane described in this article
The Ferrari 360 Modena is a masterpiece in its own right, but the 360 Challenge takes this to another level. Where the standard 360 is a balanced sports car, the 360 Challenge is a serious race car, designed for the track. However, what makes this car really special is the fact that this example is street-legal. Only a handful of 360 Challenge cars are actually allowed on public roads. This is not a modified version of the standard 360 Modena, but a car designed specifically for racing, with all the features you would expect from a true Ferrari track car: a lightweight aluminium chassis (115kg weight savings), a 3.6-litre V8 that produces 410bhp and plenty of enhancements designed to improve track performance, such as a full roll cage, race-spec braking system, a 100-litre ventilated fuel tank, an integrated fire extinguishing system, etc etc. That the Ferrari 360 Challenge has fewer than 300 examples already makes it special, but this one has something extra. With its Dutch registration number, it is officially street legal, a rarity in the world of Challenge race cars. So just drive it on the road to the track, look for everyone and drive it home again. How cool is that! Incidentally, seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher was involved in the development of the Ferrari 360 Challenge. Of course, it is not a car for daily use, but for track days or just a Sunday drive, it is more than suitable. You don't need a trailer to drive to the track; you simply get in and drive to your favourite track. You'll be at the start with a serious race car, though.

This Ferrari 360 Challenge comes with 8 original BBS cup rims and the factory-supplied racing seat. Also included is the original red cover. The current owner bought the car in 2011 and had it painted in metallic black to match the rest of his Dark Rush collection. With less than 1000km on the odometer, the car was in new condition. To be able to drive up and down to the circuits for trackdays, he managed to get the car registered in the Netherlands. A unique feat, as only a handful of Challenge cars have European type approval! The car has hardly been used and was read by Kroymans Ferrari just this month, showing that the car has driven just 1,700km. Nevertheless, just last month the owner had serious maintenance carried out for over €30,000, which included replacing the racing tanks.
An extensive article with driving report on this particular car is in this year's February Octane magazine.
This unique car comes from the Dark Rush collection that included the Porsche 991 GT3, the BMW M3 and the Bentley Supersport, which were also recently auctioned by The Collectables.
Our view
If you like extreme cars, this is one you can't ignore. Definitely not an everyday car, but easily usable for trackdays or race events. No trailer needed and if you drive on semi-slicks just usable on public roads. The car steers like a kart, is actually still quite comfortable suspension and has a great seating position in the racing seats. Getting in requires some agility, but once you're seated it feels very familiar.
