Audi RS4 Avant V6 Biturbo (B5)

When Audi launched the Quattro drivetrain in the 1980s, nobody knew what a success it was going to be. In 1992, in collaboration with Porsche, the Audi 80 RS2 was launched. An estate car that was built at Porsche and the famous 5-cylinder under the hood. Naturally, it also featured all-wheel drive and had huge speed potential. In 1999, a worthy successor came on the market in the form of the Audi A4 Avant with a fat 2.7-litre V6 fitted with 2 turbos that pushed power to over 380 hp. Whereas in the RS2 the engine was tackled by Porsche, the RS4 engine was taken in hand by Cosworth.
Again, a super-fast estate car that, if the 6-speed manual transmission is properly shifted, flies to 100kmh in less than 5 seconds and just keeps going up to a tuned 250kmh. To bring the violence back to a halt, the car was fitted with extra-large calipers with discs of no less than 360mm. In the end, only around 6,000 were made.

The RS4 we offered is fortunately among the last few RS4s that have not fallen victim to the tuning scene. The car is neatly flavoured with a muffler from Supersprint to give the V6 just a little more life. In addition, the car has a set of original 20-inch S8 wheels, which nicely fill the wheel arches and still do not make it a vulgar car. In fact, it looks great on it. Furthermore, the steering wheel and the gear stick have been reupholstered with alcantara. All original parts are present for the true purist.

The car was originally delivered in Germany in 2001, making it one of the last in the series. And year or 7 later the car left for sunny Spain with some 70,000km. For the last 10 years, the car has belonged to an Audi mechanic, who has taken very good care of it. The Audi is largely in first paint. The right rear screen has been painted once due to a scratch and the bumpers also have a new coat of paint due to some scratches and stone chips. The service booklet is partly filled in and stamped until 2020. By mistake, at the last service in Spain, the odometer reading of the next service was filled in as the current odometer reading. The present Spanish MOT inspection reports substantiate the current odometer reading of just under 185,000km.

Our opinion

Don't be put off by the mileage. Just 8,000km a year is just not much, of course. There are quite a few Audi's RS4 left, but non-tuned ones, like this one, are rare. Besides, this Audi is really in excellent condition with minimal signs of use. Prices are already slowly rising and if we see what the predecessor, the RS2, has now reached for a price level, the prospects for the RS4 are excellent.

About the seller

We are auctioning this RS4 on behalf of an enthusiast who owns several youngtimers. The fact that this RS4 has been owned by an Audi mechanic for the last 10 years and the great condition of the car decided him to buy it. Despite the fact that he looked for a "real" one for quite a long time, he still wants to sell the car. Recently, he has bought several other cars and he has to make choices. He has therefore decided to sell the car for a future with a new enthusiast.
