About this Collectable

The movie Swordfish (2001) had a large number of stars in its cast. John Travolta. Halle Berry. The TVR Tuscan. We think this TVR is one of the most special movie cars in a Hollywood blockbuster. Not a commercial-driven product placement as is done today, but simply because this fantastically-lined TVR Tuscan best suited the script of the film. Various motorizations have been delivered in the Tuscan and this copy has the 4.0l engine hidden under its polyester nose.

This six-in-line features the FFF (Finger Follower Free) cylinder head that not only gives more power (about 400 hp), but also higher reliability. Maurice (the current owner) was also caught by the Tuscan virus after seeing Swordfish. The left-hand drive units turned out not to be good enough, after which he went looking in the UK.

This TVR Tuscan was delivered in the UK in December 2000 and was picked up by Maurice himself in 2010 and driven to the Netherlands. Of course it took some getting used to right-hand drive, but the alternative (converting the best findable copy to left-hand drive) would not do the car any good. Plus, in practice it turns out to work very well after half an hour of getting used to. And it also fits well with the English origin.

This Collectable has always been maintained by Erwin Oussoren, a well-known TVR specialist in the Netherlands. As the maintenance history shows, maintenance has never been cut back and the car is therefore in beautiful condition. The TVR Tuscan Speed Six was introduced in 1999 and was not made available to the media until 2000, because Peter Wheeler, then the owner of TVR, felt that delivering the first cars to their owners should be a priority. The British CAR Magazine wrote a nice story about the TVR Tuscan in 2016, click here for the link to the article. The TVR can of course be viewed (by appointment), something that will only benefit the appreciation for this outsider.
