About this Collectable
The 911 is, of course, a fantastic sports car, but the Cayman, with its compact size and mid-engine, is just as much fun to drive, and perhaps even better. With the first-generation Boxster, you couldn't choose a coupe version, but with the 987 generation, that changed. Porsche's compact two-seater sports car was now also available as a coupe. The Cayman was born. The Cayman gained a unique look, with a flat, fastback rear. Like the Boxster, the Cayman S boasts 295 hp. More than enough to easily move the Cayman, weighing just 1,300 kg, from any spot, making it a true driver's car, thanks in part to its mid-engine design.
This particular example has a manual transmission, which naturally suits a driver's car like the Cayman perfectly. The 987 came standard with a five-speed manual transmission, but the Cayman S always had a six-speed manual (or automatic). This car also features Porsche Active Suspension Management, or active suspension. This blue Cayman is also factory-equipped with PCM, PSM, metallic paint, and the Porsche crest in the headrests. The car rolled off the production line in 2006 and was delivered to its first owner in Belgium. The current owner bought the Cayman about six years ago and barely drove it, so the car has a modest mileage of 106,000 km. Unfortunately, this Cayman has a number of common problems. The headliner is sagging and will need to be re-glued. There's a painted spot on the roof, the engine makes a ticking noise after running for a few minutes, and the PCM display is currently blank. This is most likely a case of borescoring. The Cayman brakes, steers, and drives perfectly, but further inspection is required before driving it.
Our Opinion
A Cayman is secretly the better Porsche when it comes to driving quality. The 6-cylinder mid-engine provides a fantastic driving experience, and the Cayman's handling is unsurpassed. This specific and accident-free (!) example needs some attention. Therefore, it's interesting for buyers who want to customize the car for themselves and ultimately upgrade to a better/modified engine. Unfortunately, most examples are affected by borescoring sooner or later, and there's nothing more frustrating than buying a perfectly running example for a lot of money only to have it break down shortly after.
About the seller
The last private (Belgian) owner bought the Cayman about six years ago and had various plans for it. Due to work and other commitments, the Cayman was rarely used, and he decided not to invest further in it and is selling it through The Collectables.

Comments
This is a Cayman in largely original paint. A painted spot on the roof, a loose headliner, a knock in the engine, and a PCM without an image make this a car that, with a little attention, could be brought back to top condition. The Cayman brakes, steers, and drives, but will require a thorough inspection before use! This Cayman has a full history with a Belgian Carpass, showing 24 recorded odometer readings from inspections and maintenance.
