Porsche 997 Carrera S Coupé
As the successor to the 996, the 997 generation was produced between 2004 and 2012. The classic round and distinctive 911 headlights are back. The new 997 is the more modern and improved version of the 996. Many versions followed, with the now priceless 997 GT3 RS 4.0 and GT2 RS as the top models. The 997 S is actually the best compromise between sports car and daily driver, equipped with a powerful 3.8-liter engine producing no less than 355 HP. Coupled with an automatic transmission, the car is a joy to drive on torque. It remains a sports car, of course, so getting the maximum out of it at high revs is no problem at all. The beauty of such a 911 (997) is its practical usability for everyday use, and it is certainly very easy to drive with the automatic transmission. Put it in sport mode and you have a truly fast sports car that still ranks among the best today.
The Porsche offered here is an original Dutch-delivered 997 Carrera S Coupé and has been in the possession of the last private owner for 9 years. The current owner realized his boyhood dream about 10 years ago and bought this 911, which until that moment had been serviced by a Porsche dealer, with about 105,000 km on the odometer. The 997 S was delivered new by Porsche Wittebrug and subsequently had 2 owners before the current owner took it over. Upon purchase, he had the 997 brought into tip-top condition and fitted with new tires. He took great care of it, driving it only sporadically (about 1,100 km per year), but still took it to the Porsche specialist annually for maintenance. The 997 is therefore still in top condition and looks fantastic, certainly considering its age and mileage.
Our opinion
If you are looking for a super neat, originally Dutch-delivered 997 with a watertight maintenance history that belonged to a true enthusiast, then this is a must-have example. Unadulterated driving pleasure from one of the very last analog Porsches. Not too big, not too heavy, and yet modern with classic looks.
About the seller
The 911 is being sold on behalf of the current owner. He bought the car just under 10 years ago to make his Porsche dream come true. He has always taken good care of it and only drove it in good weather. The owner mainly enjoyed driving quietly on country roads and never really utilized the car's full potential. Furthermore, the car was kept neatly covered in the garage. As the owner is getting on in years and getting in and out is becoming more difficult, he has decided to sell the 997 through The Collectables.
