In 1964, the Porsche 911 became available for the first time as the successor to the 356: faster, more spacious, and equipped with a genuine 6-cylinder boxer engine. The 356 was already a nimble and sporty coupé, but the 911 was clearly a step forward. Ferry Porsche could never have dreamed that the 911 would become such a success, despite its unique concept (rear-mounted engine). It wasn't just the sporty motorist who appreciated the 911; the car also became an icon in the rally and racing world. The T-models of the 911 are and were the entry-level models of the 911, yet always something special. So special, in fact, that Porsche has had a “T” in its lineup since the 991 series. A car that brings everyone back to the essence of driving without unnecessary luxury or fuss. The first T-models came onto the market in late 1968 as the 2-liter. Later, the 2.2-liter engine was introduced, and the last T-models had a 2.4-liter capacity. Admittedly “only” 140 hp, but due to the lower weight and good torque, it was a very nimble car and faster than the earlier S models. To improve handling, Porsche relocated the oil tank of the dry sump engine in 1972. As a result, the oil filler opening in the engine compartment was no longer easily accessible, so Porsche designed a flap in the right rear fender, just behind the door, allowing oil to be topped up without opening the hood. The idea was brilliant, but in practice, things sometimes went wrong because the "Ölklappe" (oil flap) was located in the same place as the petrol filler opening in most “normal” cars. Inattentive pump attendants more than once filled the oil tank with petrol, leading to serious engine damage. Therefore, after just one year, in 1973, Porsche moved the oil filler opening back to its old location in the engine compartment. Consequently, the "Ölklappe" models were only built in the 1972 model year (produced between the autumn of 1971 and the summer of 1972) and are therefore very rare. Only 989 were produced!
The 911 2.4T offered here is a previously restored Ölklappe in the rare (and original factory-supplied) color Royal Purple! A special feature is that the car is equipped with an MFi injection system that was also used on the Carrera RS. You notice it immediately in the amazing throttle response. The car "hangs" on the gas, so to speak. The engine in this Ölklappe is matching! This 911 was completely overhauled once in the past and still looks stunning. Numerous invoices are available, and a lot of money has been invested in the mechanics over the past few years. At engine specialist BAS Autoservice in Lichtenvoorde, just about all gaskets and hoses have been replaced, and a great deal of time and money has been invested in optimally tuning the MFi engine, which now delivers a healthy 150 hp.
Our opinion
Due to the low production run of 989 units, an Ölklappe is truly something special. Furthermore, it is equipped with the famous MFi injection and a very special (and originally supplied) color. The car is solid, neat, and, thanks to careful tuning, delivers well over 150 hp from the matching engine. This makes this 911T hardly inferior to the much more expensive S-models.
About the seller
After purchasing the 911, the last owner had it technically overhauled by BAS Autoservice and had the car tuned on the dyno to turn it into the ultimate driver. To make room, he traded in this Royal Purple 911, along with another 911, for a new 911 Turbo.

This 911 2.4T is in good optical and technical condition. According to the birth certificate, the car is matching, and much work has been done in recent years to make it a good driver's car. Unfortunately, the tires are of a brand not worthy of Porsche and are also 18 years old. We therefore recommend a fresh set of tires upon commissioning.
