About this Collectable

The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is a masterpiece by Ian Callum, featuring a beautifully sounding naturally aspirated 5.9-liter V12 under the hood. How good the 5.9-liter V12 sounds, and how timeless this stylish British coupe remains. It was the car with which Aston Martin started a new era. In 1999, the brand introduced a twelve-cylinder engine in the DB7 Vantage, and not long after, this Aston Martin V12 Vanquish followed. This made it a direct rival to the Ferrari 550 Maranello, among others. Perhaps the most beautiful Aston ever, a brand that has now existed for 113 years (!) launched the V12 Vanquish in 2001. The V12 delivered 466 hp and 560 Nm, and featured sequential shifting, allowing for 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and achieving a top speed of 306 km/h. A quintessential James Bond car, and at the time, the secret agent's service vehicle. For the chassis, Aston Martin enlisted the help of Lotus, who knows better than anyone how to handle such a project. The result is a sophisticated chassis utilizing aluminum and carbon fiber. Combined with the limited-slip differential, this ensures a high level of handling. This Vanquish cost no less than €335,000 in the Netherlands at the time.

The example in our auction is a pristine example with less than 4,000 km on the odometer and, naturally, in mint condition. It was delivered new to Sheikh Nassar Mohammed Al Ahmed Al Sabah. While many cars from the Middle East have a reputation for coming from a sandpit, cars from Kuwait are almost always bought for the sake of owning them. In other words, they are bought and placed in a collection of often dozens or sometimes hundreds of cars. This is also the case with this Vanquish, with its nearly pristine mileage. This Vanquish is, of course, fully optioned and shows hardly any signs of wear. Featuring a tasteful combination of silver-grey paint and red leather with Alcantara center sections. The car has been regularly "driven" and recently undergone extensive maintenance to ensure it remains a car that drives well.

Our opinion

The V12 Vanquish was (and is) one of the most beautiful Astons ever built. So beautiful, in fact, that designer Ian Callum introduced a completely new version based on this model a few years ago. Everyone agrees on the design (and sound): this is a car that belongs in every collection. The Vanquish's F1 gearbox drives fantastically; you just have to get the hang of it (just like the Ferraris and M3 CSL from that era). It always shifts faster and more precisely than a manual version.

This V12 Vanquish in top condition from the 2nd owner is unique, especially in this color combination. This is already a classic, and the prices for such an iconic yet exclusive model (only 1,492 units made) are still manageable. Comparable Ferraris with this mileage already go for over €200,000.
