Porsche Boxster 3.2S (987)

In 1993, the Porsche Boxster concept model was presented. Inspired by the 550 Spider, the concept model looked sleek and received many positive reactions. When the first generation Boxster (986) came onto the market in 1996, featuring a genuine 2.5-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine (as it should be), it was an immediate success and sales figures exceeded all expectations. In 2004, the second generation Boxster (987) came onto the market, which also became available in a closed version (the Cayman). The centrally located exhaust (also a nod to the 550) was retained, as was the mid-engine concept, resulting in a fantastic-handling roadster. The interior was refreshed, the engines received an upgrade with, naturally, more power, and the 3.2 now delivered 280 hp! Now up for auction is a very fine, complete Boxster S that a true enthusiast has done absolutely everything to get and keep in top condition, both visually and technically. He bought the car 2 years ago from an acquaintance after selling his previous 911 Targa. Immediately after purchase, he had a baseline measurement performed at the Porsche specialist and had the IMS bearing resealed, the O-rings replaced, the starter motor overhauled, the heat exchanger renewed, and all major maintenance carried out right away. The Boxster was fitted with new air conditioning condensers and tires, and was aligned. In addition, the car looks like new visually as well. The Boxster is still entirely in its original paint, and the two-tone leather upholstery is in pristine condition. The previous owner also devoted the necessary attention to the car. In short, a very fresh Boxster in top condition.

Our opinion

A Porsche Boxster is a lot of car for your money, especially when compared to a comparable 911, which easily costs double (and secretly drives less well). This is a very neat Boxster, and the car likely still qualifies for the favorable Youngtimer scheme, making it an interesting alternative for business use as well.

About the seller

The Boxster is being sold on behalf of the current owner. He bought the car from an acquaintance two years ago because he knew it was a well-driven and maintained vehicle. Nevertheless, he had the necessary work done to get the car into top condition. Since he is retiring soon and will no longer have a company car, the Boxster must make way for a practical vehicle. It is a great pity, but unfortunately, reason must prevail over emotion.
