About this Collectable

Porsche 911 (964) Carrera 4 cabriolet

The 964 combines the best of both worlds. When it was introduced in 1989, the iconic lines of the primal 911 remained largely intact, but meanwhile 85% of the car was new. Equipped with power steering, ABS and a modern chassis, among other things, it is a classic which, by classic standards, is easy and good to drive. The bumpers were given more modern styling and, for the sake of handling at high speed, the car was given a fold-out spoiler, something Porsche still uses today. In the 964, a new 3.6-litre engine was developed from the existing 3.2 Mezger block, which still makes the true air-cooled boxer engine sound. This one is good for 250 hp. This means that, even by today's standards, this 964 still gets off the ground perfectly, thanks in part to its four-wheel drive. In the 964, tiptronic (rear-wheel drive only) and all-wheel drive were available for the first time.
With this car, it is a true driver's version with manual gearbox and all-wheel drive. Besides leather upholstery, the car has 17-inch (aftermarket) Cup 2 rims and an alarm system. This Porsche saw the light of day in Germany in 1990 (Country code C00), was admitted to the NL in 1999 and came into the hands of its current owner exactly 15 years ago. The 964 has had an engine overhaul in the past and was originally white in colour. Due to personal preference, the car was repainted in blue metallic which was also carried through to the boot and engine compartment.

Our opinion

A 964 really is THE Porsche that combines the classic look with modern technology. That technology is rock solid and lets you enjoy the classic 911 sound. The car has a sports exhaust which adds to the joy. This is not a trailer queen or concours car, but all the more fun to use and especially to enjoy.

Equipment

Among other things, this 964 is equipped with:
Alarm system
Fully electrically adjustable seats
Windshield
Electric windows
Cognac leather upholstery
Air conditioning (not working)

17 inch Cup2 rims (aftermarket)

Notes

This 964 convertible is in used condition. The car has signs of use and the paint is in poorer condition in several places as shown in the photos. There is some rust on the paravan and doorposts, the right rear screen seems to have been replaced at some point and has cracks in the paint. The car was once painted from white to blue metallic which was otherwise thoroughly done. The engine runs nicely and hangs well on the throttle, but, as is often the case, does suffer from a drip of oil at the bottom of the block due to little use.
