Porsche 964 Carrera 2

We've said it before: the 964 combines the best of both worlds. When introduced in 1989, the iconic lines of the primal 911 remained largely intact, but in the meantime 85% of the car was new. Modern contrivances such as ABS and power steering. This makes it a classic which, by classic standards, is easy and good to drive. The bumpers were given more modern styling, and for the sake of handling at high speeds, the car was given a fold-out spoiler, something Porsche still uses today.

Where the classic 911 series ended with the 3.2, Porsche moved on to the 964 with a new 3.6 liter block which still makes the true air-cooled boxer engine sound. This one is good for 250 horsepower. Thus, even by today's standards, this 964 still gets off the road very well.

The suspension was also significantly modernized, with coil springs at the rear instead of torsion bars and MacPherson suspension up front. In addition, Tiptronic and all-wheel drive were available for the first time on the 964. This car is a true driver's version. The version speaks to the imagination, please read along:

Coupe, rear-wheel drive, manual transmission, sunroof, the beautiful color Oakgrün Metallic and, as icing on the cake, the code M220 or optional limited slip differential. Rare is that the seats are originally upholstered in fabric from the factory, something you almost never see past. This makes you even more comfortable should you want to drive the 964 sportily.

The Oak Grün metallic color is perhaps one of the most popular and sought-after colors for a classic 911.
This Porsche saw the light of day in 1990 and was admitted to the NL in 1999.
4 private owners have taken good care of it since then. The last one no less than 16 years. The Porsche has been well maintained and there are over 50,000, - euros in maintenance bills with it.
In short, a well-documented car that has been used for what it was made for!

Our Opinion

After the RS and Turbo versions, this is just about the most sought-after version among Porsche 964 models, a manual Coupe with rear-wheel drive and limited slip. The ultimate sports car from the early 90s. Daily use, but also perfectly usable for a long vacation trip or a lap around the circuit. A 964 Coupe will be no different.

The car has some user marks, which is absolutely nothing crazy for its age. Also, no doubt a 964 will be offered somewhere with lower mileage. Still, precisely because there are a few cosmetic spots, and precisely because the Porsche has already done some mileage, this is a car to enjoy. Not hiding it in a barn under a canvas, but enjoying it for miles and beautiful memories. As far as we are concerned a real Collectable!
