It all started with the fastest sedan money could buy. The BMW E28 M5 started with a big engine with 286 hp from the M1, some subtle bodywork changes and a modified suspension. Succeeded by the E34 with ultimately a 3.8 liter with 340 hp that was even available as a touring car. In 1984, BMW released the M635 CSi, a sports coupe equipped with the same legendary 3.5-liter inline-six engine from the BMW M1. With 286 hp and a top speed of 255 km/h, it was one of the fastest four-seaters of its time. Popularly, the M635 CSi was soon called the M6. The first real M6 followed in 2005 with the iconic V10. With 500hp it's no nonsense and a heavenly V10 sound. After the introduction of the new BMW M5 (F10) in 2012, the new generation M6 (F12 and F13 series) followed immediately with the same S63 engine as in the F10 BMW M5. Partly forced by the emission requirements, the 4.4 liter V8 was equipped with 2 turbos and the engine delivered 560 hp and 680 NM torque and is linked to a seven-speed M-DCT automatic transmission.
