The evolution of the original Porsche 911 ended with the 231 hp Carrera 3.2, the so-called G-model. From then on, although far from immediately visible, more than 80% of the classic concept was changed (the 964). With this, you have the largest naturally aspirated engine ever fitted to the classic 911. In this fun convertible, you can enjoy this with the top down. The classic 911 was in production for no less than 25 years before the 964 arrived. Of course, Porsche did not stand still during those 25 years and continuously improved the 911 step by step. The final step in the evolution of the classic 911 was the Carrera 3.2. It is unthinkable today, but in the 1980s, Porsche was actually on the verge of scrapping the 911. Nevertheless, it was decided to give the 911 another chance, and the Carrera 3.2 was developed. And what happened? The 911 had a right to exist after all. Right up to the present day. But things could have turned out very differently if the Carrera 3.2 hadn't existed. The 3.2 was introduced in 1984 as the successor to the 911 SC, which featured a 3.0-liter engine. Porsche thoroughly overhauled this block, as the 3.2 engine was 80% new. According to factory specifications, it reaches 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. However, Porsche has always been conservative with its claims, so in practice, there is even more performance to be extracted. Meanwhile, you enjoy the magnificent boxer sound with the roof open. The 3.2 block not only has more power but is also significantly more efficient and economical thanks to the Bosch engine management system with electronic injection and ignition. This was a major first for the 911 at the time. Despite the innovations under the hood, it remains a true classic 911 in terms of looks. Naturally, this 911 is equipped with the legendary Fuchs wheels. Upcoming this week at our auction is a neat, European-delivered dark blue 911 Carrera 3.2 convertible with some mileage.
