About this Collectable
Porsche 997 Carrera S MK2 PDK Cabriolet
In 2009, Porsche introduced the facelift of the Porsche 997 series. The exterior received some subtle changes, under the skin much more happened. For instance, not only did the PCM get a more modern look, internally it also met the latest standards in terms of maps and capabilities. The main changes, however, were the engine and the (automatic) gearbox. The modern DFI engines did away with the ailments common to the first series, delivering more power and lower consumption. The now somewhat dated 5-speed automatic transmission was replaced by a state-of-the-art double-clutch gearbox, the PDK! Of course, there were many variants available with the 4S being the fattest, but the 2S being the nicest. Less weight and a non-drive front axle made the car just a little more playful. That you might miss the four-wheel drive in the winter months is somewhat less of an issue with a Cabriolet.
The 997 Carrera S Cabriolet offered by us was delivered on 24 April 2009 by Porsche Centrum Eindhoven to its first owner. After the previous owner had driven it for 10 years, the current owner took over the car in 2022, which had just been fitted with a new engine under warranty. Some DFI engines from the first series sometimes had a little problem. As the convertible top no longer looked completely fresh after 12 years, the current owner recently had a new wine-red hood put on and adjusted the striping accordingly. Obviously a matter of taste, but the striping is easy to remove. Furthermore, the car was fitted with Apple carplay and a Cargraphic exhaust system to make the most of the 6-cylinder boxer. That the owner is a real Porsche man is shown not only by the car but also by the fact that he is co-responsible for a Dutch Porsche forum.
Our opinion
The last 911 with relatively modest dimensions and technology that you can still see as soon as you open the bonnet. The 997 MK2 has now become a sought-after Youngtimer with mature technology and classic design. For those for whom a 991 is too clinical and a 996 too old-fashioned, this is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on a beautiful, very fully equipped 911 from a true enthusiast. We think the striping is successful, but as mentioned, easy to change to personal preference. The DFI engine is quick and economical and runs great through the rev range, especially when combined with the sports exhaust.

About the seller
The last owner of this 997 co-owns the porscheforum www.vierenzestig.nl. So a Porsche man at heart. He bought the 997 3 years ago because of its impeccable condition and made many beautiful trips with it in recent years. In addition, he personally ‘seasoned’ the 997 a bit. He would now like to move up to a 991 MK2 and therefore decided to auction the 997 through The Collectables.
