About this Collectable

Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (997)

Due to a fresh MOT, the text has been updated

The 997 Carrera's came standard with a 3.6-litre boxer with 325hp and 370NM of torque. Enough for a seriously fast sports car of around 1400kg, but more is always more fun. The S versions feature a powerful 3.8 litre with a whopping 355HP and 400NM, and you really notice it. Coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox, of course, it's totally as it should be. Especially when combined with the right options such as sports seats, sunroof red belts and dials, sports exhaust and Turbo wheels. Enjoying the ample torque or revving high to get the most out of it? The 997 4S can do it all and safely too because all driving forces are distributed to all 4 wheels. It only adds to its everyday and practical usability. The successor to the 996, the 997 generation was delivered between 2004 and 2012. The classic round and distinctive 911 headlights are back. The new 997 is the more modern and improved version of the 996. Many versions followed with the top models being the now priceless 997 GT3 RS 4.0 and GT2 RS. The ‘fattest normal’ 997 was the 4S. So the fat engine with the wide butt. The latter was missing from the 2S, thus giving the 4S that extra bit of charisma.

This 997 became the first private German owner on 25 November 2005 and was imported to the Netherlands after only 10 months. The first Dutch owner drove it only a few thousand kilometres, judging by the service history. After being serviced at Porsche Leusden, all maintenance up to and including 2019 was done by Porsche specialist Kraan. The current owner, an enthusiastic Porsche driver for over 20 years, has owned the 4S since 2019 and brought the car to Porsche Gelderland. As already mentioned, this 4S is nicely packed with sporty options and has the sought-after colour combination of black paint with a black leather interior.

Our opinion

Leaving aside the GT3 and Turbo, the 997 4S is the version you want. Good performance, coupled with a delightful six-speed gearbox and great looks thanks to its ‘fat’ ass. A value-conscious all-rounder with classic looks!
