About this Collectable

Porsche 911 (997) S Cabriolet Tiptronic

VAT is deductible on this Porsche, you are bidding including VAT!

The 997 Carrera and Carrera S models were launched in the summer of 2004. Both models feature a water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 3596 cm³, which produces 325 hp in the 911 Carrera. Due to a 3 mm larger cylinder bore, the 911 Carrera S has a total of 228 cm³ more displacement and thus not only higher power, but also higher torque than the base model. Externally, the two models differ mainly at the rear, where the S model has four exhaust pipes instead of two and the Carrera S models have red brake calipers instead of the Carrera's black ones. Until the 2008 facelift, the diameter of the inner pipe was slightly smaller than that of the outer pipe on the regular version with sports exhaust, while the Carrera S's four standard exhaust pipes were always the same size. Both models were equipped as standard with either a newly developed six-speed automatic transmission or the modified Tiptronic-S automatic transmission. The latter offers the driver a manual mode in which gears can be shifted via the steering wheel. Another innovation was the suspension, which features controlled damping as standard on the S models.

The Carrera 2S Cabriolet we offered is equipped with a fine-shifting automatic gearbox, which suits open-air driving just fine, and was delivered by Porsche Antwerp on 21 April 2005. Subsequently, this 997 has always stayed with this dealer and, after 2 previous owners, was sold to the current owner. He too had the car serviced exclusively by Porsche Antwerp. Some engines of the first generation had the so-called bore scoring problem. Porsche therefore replaced the entire engine at 115,000km under warranty, so the current engine has only done 35,000km! The car comes with the right options such as PCM2, Sport seats and Sportchrono. Given its age of over 15 years, no residual BPM and the fact that it is a VAT car, an ideal youngtimer for business use!

Our opinion

As far as we are concerned, the 997 is a perfect Porsche. The dimensions are still clear, the interior is sporty and modern and the seating behind the wheel is perfect. For emergencies, the 2 rear seats are still usable or else suitable as extra luggage space on a long trip. The automatic gearbox suits the character of this convertible perfectly and the fact that it is a VAT car makes it the perfect Youngtimer candidate. Optically, this 997 needs some love, but therefore very suitable as a daily driver that you dare to park anywhere!
