About this Collectable
Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 2 Cabriolet
According to many Porsche enthusiasts, the world perished in 1997 because of the arrival of the 996 generation, but that opinion is now quickly turning. It dries up nicely shall we say, especially as an MK2. The low sporty line, quality materials, an air conditioner that actually blows cold air, buttons in the right place in the interior and a lovely atmospheric boxer engine. Vilified at the time by the purists, ‘because a kettle’, but now we are 28 years on and it turns out there is nothing wrong with water-cooled and you can wring out such a relatively modern 911 nicely thanks to sufficient horsepower, a not too big body and the necessary safety systems. Come up against that in a twice as expensive 993 or 964. It is not for nothing that many a car journalist privately drives a 996.
There is also a risk attached to the relatively low entry price for a 996. If a 911 is bought by someone who saves on maintenance, you end up buying a very expensive 911. Because in terms of maintenance (costs), it remains a Porsche, of course.
This 996 offered by us was originally delivered in the Netherlands (Porsche Amsterdam) and all maintenance has always been carried out by the Porsche dealer and Porsche specialist. Of course, this is all neatly stamped in the service booklet. The last service was carried out at 190,103 km, less than 7,000 km ago. Executed in the great combination of Arktissilber metallic with a black leather interior and black convertible top, this is a neat appearance. Also nicely equipped with lots of aluminium accents and just about all plastic parts are covered in leather (see all X-code options). Further equipped with a hardtop, which is not only nice in the colder months, but also gives a lot of peace and less noise during a long holiday trip.
Our opinion
A neat original Dutch-delivered 996 convertible with a fully stamped service book and the nice options. No more virgin mileage, but therefore very suitable as a daily driver with a favourable business addition on daily value. Thanks to the Tiptronic, also great to drive in traffic jams.
About the seller
Dirk bought the car in 2021 from a well-known Porsche specialist and made beautiful road trips with it. In the meantime, he has noticed that he drives it very little and finds it a shame that the car is used so little. Therefore, he decided to offer the car for sale through The Collectables.
