About this Collectable
Porsche 964 Carrera 2
At its introduction in 1989, famous lines of the primal 911 remained largely intact, but in the meantime, most things under the skin were fully addressed. Think ABS, power steering, and MacPherson suspension, but later also airbags and of course improved aerodynamics due to the sliding spoiler, something Porsche still applies today. This makes it a classic car which, by classic standards, is easy and good to drive. Where the classic 911 series ended with the 3.2, Porsche continued with the 964 with a new 3.6 litre engine which still makes the true air-cooled boxer engine sound. Thanks to dual ignition, it produces 250 bhp, making this 964 excellent even by today's standards.
The suspension was also considerably modernised, with front and rear coil springs instead of torsion bars. Moreover, Tiptronic and all-wheel drive were available for the first time on the 964.
This car is a real driver's car where the execution makes it a really fun car. Coupé, rear-wheel drive, NO sunroof, the beautiful colour Grand Prix Weiss and a lowered suspension combined with the rare 8x17 (ET52) Cup rims. The Carrera 2 is fitted with a Tiptronic gearbox. The so-called ‘purists’ may think something of it, but it does make the ample available power very easy and quick to access. Besides, this gearbox is better than its calling and even 2 examples were built for as Cup cars that competed not undeservedly in the Carrera Cup. This 964 saw the light of day in 1991, was shipped to Japan and arrived in the Netherlands in 2011.
2 private owners in the Netherlands have driven it since then. There is quite a lot of history present as can be seen in the photos. The odometer reading can be deduced from the (maintenance) history from Japan and from 2011 there is a correct NAP during the period in the Netherlands.
The current owner drove about 12,000km with it in the past 5.5 years.
Our opinion
The Carrera 2 is actually the version you want. The Tiptronic makes it very usable and drives surprisingly well in combination with the 3.6 engine that already has a lot of torque at low revs. It is a fresh car to look at and so does it drive. The number of 964s that have been scrapped for a back date project is huge, leaving very few really neat 964s left, so make your move!

Remarks
This Carrera 2 is in very clean condition. All original welding points are visible and some parts have been painted for cosmetic reasons. The driver's seat shows a few dry cracks that need to be re-greased. The underside also still looks clean and there are no oil leaks except for the slight sweating of some gaskets. The car drives as it should and thanks in part to the 17-inch rims and the subtly lowered suspension, the car handles very tightly. We recommend a service on commissioning.
Recent maintenance history
Unfortunately, the 964 does not have the service booklet with it, but it has ample maintenance documentation from Japan. Furthermore, the NAP is present as well as a number of invoices from the Netherlands (including Porsche Gelderland). As the date notation is unfortunately impossible to decipher, we limit ourselves to mentioning the service mileage in Japan.
