About this Collectable
1960 MGA 1500 roadster, LHD
The MGA is an iconic sports car produced by British car brand MG (Morris Garages). The MGA was first introduced in 1955 and remained in production until 1962. The MGA was an important milestone for MG, as it was the first sports car to be completely designed after the company was taken over by the British Motor Corporation (BMC). The design of the MGA was a radical change from its predecessor, the MG TF, with a streamlined body and a more contemporary look.
The MGA was available in several body styles, including a roadster and a coupé. It had a 1.5-litre or 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, depending on the production year, which provided a sporty driving experience.
The MGA 1500 Cabriolet we offer was registered in the USA in 1958 and as far as we know from sunny California. In the past, the MGA has been restored. All screw parts have been loose and repaired or overhauled. The chrome work and rubbers were addressed and the car was repainted red. This was done carefully as nothing of the original black colour is visible anymore. The paintwork shows some minor imperfections, but the sheet metal is tight and rust-free. This left-hand drive (!) MGA is technically sound and drives, brakes and steers as it should. The car has front disc brakes, stainless steel exhaust and a radiator with increased cooling capacity, a common modification to keep the engine healthy. For the sound experience, the engine is fitted with open air filters!
Our opinion
Meanwhile, the MG brand in Chinese hands is far from the classically lined sports cars of yesteryear. So here is a unique opportunity to buy a fine piece of automotive history. Few cars offer more driving experience than an open English roadster like this one. The marque will be no less than 100 years old in 2024 but, sadly, it is not what it used to be since it passed into Chinese hands.

Notes
This MGA is in good usable condition. The convertible top is still very clean and also the leather upholstery, instruments and the rest of the interior still look very good. The paint has some minor imperfections and the engine sweats some oil. As indicated, the MGA was once restored and is still in good condition which indicates that the restoration was done carefully. The car has been stationary for an extended period of time but drives well, we recommend some maintenance and tuning work before commissioning. 6 years ago, the car was valued at €29,500.00.
Recent maintenance history
The MGA has been continuously maintained by the last owner and received regular servicing and maintenance. In recent years, the car was hardly driven as the owner was elderly.
Included in the sale
Included in the sale of this MGA is:
