About this Collectable

Land Rover 109 Pick-up Series 3

More than 70 years after its introduction, a Land Rover Series 3 actually needs no further explanation. Stemming from a time when an off-road vehicle was closer to a tractor than to a slightly higher-riding ‘luxury car’ (read: SUV). Yet, over the course of many decades of production, it has been continuously improved without compromising the concept. That an original Series 3 is a Collectable is actually beyond dispute. And certainly a relatively rare sight like this 109 Pick-up.

The example offered here is in exceptionally fine condition. We dare say that in some respects, the car is better than new. Take, for instance, the covers pulled over the CV joints to protect against dirt and mud. This is rarely done anymore and is only seen in top-tier restorations that you rarely encounter. The previous owner had the car for 10 years and had absolutely everything renewed or overhauled, skimping on nothing; truly everything has been addressed and is in top condition. The engine has been overhauled, fitted with new pistons, carburetor, etc., etc. The bodywork is exceptionally sleek and features perfect paintwork, certainly for a Land Rover. Suspension, drivetrain, axles, interior—everything, absolutely everything, has been overhauled or renewed. Furthermore, the Series 3 has hardly been used and is therefore still in perfect condition. The orange color completes the look perfectly, making it an impressive sight.

Our opinion

If there is one car that exudes the ability to handle anything, it is the Series 3. This particular example is not exactly commonplace, but it is impressively large and rugged. The color scheme makes this Series 3 a special sight. There are plenty of Series 3 for sale that need just a little attention, after which you end up paying four times the purchase price to get them into decent condition. The example offered here is completely finished and has been restored from A to Z without regard for costs. A nice bonus is that this Series 3 is road tax exempt given its age of 43 years. A car you have to see for yourself just to appreciate how beautiful it is!

About the seller
