Jaguar XK150 3.4 Litre
In 1948, Jaguar introduced the XK120. This car clocked an official top speed of 200 km/h (120mph) at Jabeke, Belgium, hence the name XK120. The model immediately caught on and Jaguar decided to put it into series production. In 1954 the successor was ready, the XK140. Designed more for comfort and driving convenience and already standard with the 193hp engine or even 213hp in the SE version. The XK150 was introduced as the successor to the XK140 and was built from 1957 to 1961. This 1958 example is known for its timeless elegance, powerful performance and luxurious appearance. It also came standard with disc brakes and even an automatic transmission was among the options, but fortunately this is a manual version.
This XK150 is powered by the familiar 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine with an output of 213HP. This is a further development of the iconic XK engine family first introduced in the XK120. With its 213HP, the XK150 was capable of impressive performance for its time, with rapid acceleration and a high top speed. The manual transmission added a sporty driving experience to the car which also handles comfortably at higher speeds due to its long gears with overdrive.
This version called the ''Drophead'' refers to a two-door convertible with a folding roof. This body style combines the best of both worlds; the open-air driving experience of a convertible and the comfortable, enclosed environment of a coupe when the roof is closed. The design of the XK150 retained the features of earlier XK models, such as the distinctive grille, long hood and streamlined shape. The classic shapes executed in "Cornish Grey" combined with the red interior gives this car a classy look which also certainly contributes to a great driving experience. This is an older restoration in which the technology has also been extensively taken care of. In 2015, the engine was overhauled in England. In addition, electric power steering was installed, making driving this Jaguar child's play.
Today, Jaguar XK150 models are appreciated by enthusiasts and collectors because of the historical significance behind the model, timeless design and impressive performance. They represent an important chapter in Jaguar history and remain a symbol of class and sophistication from the 1950s. In short, the car for enthusiasts, collectors and weekend and rally drivers!
Our opinion
Elegance is surely the word that comes to mind when we see the XK150. The Cornish Grey paint, the red leather interior, the chrome wire wheels and, of course, tires with the white trim. It is an overall picture that is absolutely right.
Technically, the Jaguar has been well taken care of. Starting, driving, braking and shifting are extremely easy and smooth.
Optically there are some points that could possibly be refined to bring the Jaguar in absolute concoursstate. Yet in its current condition the Jaguar is precisely a car that you dare to take out of storage and drive when the sun is shining, on a tour or even a rally.
