The XJ-S was presented in May 1975, succeeding the legendary Jaguar E-Type and equipped with a V12 from the outset. The XJ-S was a reasonable success and was succeeded by the MK2 in 1981 with Jaguar's new High-Efficiency engine. The car reached a top speed of 250 km/h, making it the fastest automatic in the world. A convertible version of the XJ-S was also produced. With 21 years of production, it ranks among the longest-produced car models. Because it is quite low and wide, the XJ-S is a great-looking car with excellent aerodynamics. Due to the oil crisis and the mediocre quality (today we call that character) of the MK1, it was not a major success. In 1981, Jaguar introduced the MK2 with a new HE engine that delivered 295 hp and was significantly more fuel-efficient. The design was also refreshed with chrome on the bumpers, new wheels, and wood trim for the interior. Coming to our auction this coming week is such a beautiful 12-cylinder Convertible in very neat condition.
