The Ford Mustang is one of the most famous models from the American automotive group Ford. Designer-stylist John Najjar was an enthusiast of the fighter jet, the P-51 Mustang, from which the Mustang derives its name. The first example rolled off the production line on April 17, 1964, and the car was very successful, partly thanks to its sporty appearance and relatively low price. Today, models from the first series built between 1964 and 1967 are highly sought after by Mustang enthusiasts. The Mustang was available with a V6 or a 4.3-liter V8. From autumn 1964, the 4.7 (289ci) V8 was also offered. The 1966 model year saw various minor adjustments, such as round gauges (instead of ribbon gauges), chrome on the rear air intakes, and a modified emblem on the grille. This coming week, we feature a 1965 Mustang 289, equipped with the powerful 4.7-liter V8, which has been thoroughly restored.
