Chevrolet Corvette C1 Cabriolet V8 Injection 1960
For many, the only true American sports car introduced in 1953: The Chevrolet Corvette. Fast engines, tough looks at an acceptable price, especially compared to its German and Italian peers.
In the era of chrome and four headlights, the Corvette also adapted to the look of the time. The 1958 model year and the four subsequent models all had the visible four headlights and prominent grilles. The interior and instruments were updated, including placing the tachometer right in front of the driver. Displacement remained 283 cu in (4.6 l). For the first time, seat belts were installed at the factory rather than at the dealer, as on earlier models (!!!).
1959 was the second-last year for rear lights on top of the rear mudguards.
For the 1959 model, engines and horsepower did not change. The interior was slightly revised and a reverse lock with ‘T’ lever was standard on the four-speed manual transmission.
The final features of the 1960 models were rear lights moulded into the rear wings and heavy grill teeth. A manual gearbox was also required for the first time for all fuel-injected engines.
The 1960 Corvette C1 offered by us is very rare due to its fuel injection engine. In recent years, the Corvette has been restored by a well-known Corvette specialist and taken apart to the last bolt. Really everything has been done to get the car into its current top condition. The Corvette has been in the Netherlands since 2004 and has been completely tackled by the last owner on commission. Not only the chassis, bodywork and interior are in new condition, the engine has also been done completely and a 5-speed gearbox has been fitted for even better ‘driveability’. The injection system has been sent to a specialist in the USA to be completely overhauled. The price tag of $8000,- does not lie. The engine is matching
Our opinion
You rarely find a Corvette in this condition. Meanwhile, they are sold for huge prices in the USA and can rarely be found in Europe. In our opinion, for the true collector a must have this American muscle car in the collection. No uncertainties of unexpected (high) costs, just a perfectly restored car that you can drive away in no time.
About the seller
The owner is a collector who bought the car for his collection. The whole journey of buying, having it restored and refurbished were the real challenge for him. To thin out his collection, the Corvette may go to a new owner
Recent service history
There is no recent maintenance history, as the car has driven few kilometres after its recent restoration. However, there is a lot present such as photos and invoices showing the complete restoration. All this is available on request. If seriously interested, the car can also be viewed on a lifting platform.
