BMW M4 CS
We don't have to say much about the M4. A perfomance car 1st class that has earned its stripes by now. BMW added the Competition, and then came the hardcore variant: the BMW M4 CS, instantly recognisable by its carbon splitter, bonnet with large air vent, a spoiler on the tailgate, a sports exhaust, OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) rear lights copied from the M4 GTS and different (DTM) rims that are 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear. Everything else has been done to save weight with a bonnet, roof, splitter, spoiler and diffuser made of carbon fibre, the lack of map pockets and handles replaced with loop handles. The chassis has also been addressed with shorter (and stiffer) springs, punishing dampers and modified stabiliser bars. Of course, there is also a small power increase from 431hp to 460hp, and the torque at 600NM is enough to break traction even on dry roads in the first 3 gears. The M4 CS only comes with the dual-clutch DCT gearbox and goes to 100 in 3.9 seconds and runs to a limited 280 km/h. The choice of body colours was limited to San Marino blue, Lime Rock grey, Alpine white and Sapphire black. We can safely say that this was BMW's GT3 of 2017. Some 3,000 of them were estimated to have been made and the Netherlands was only allocated 20.
The one offered here by us is one of 20 originally Dutch-delivered M4 CSs. Finished in the best colour San Marino Blue metallic and fitted with Carbon brakes. Just under 160,000 euros was paid by the 1st Dutch owner at BMW dealer Ekris. They didn't discount because there were only 20 available! The car (fortunately) did not become a garage or trailer queen and was used with some regularity. The current and 2nd owner took over the car 2 years ago and is a car enthusiast (more on this later) and used it sporadically. The M4 CS is fully dealer maintained and in perfect condition. Obviously still completely 1st paint and no scratches or pits to be found anywhere.
Our opinion
In the ‘pre-pork-nose’ era, this was/is surely one of the most beautiful M-series BMW ever made. A real driver's car and, as already indicated, a fine Porsche GT3 alternative, with a bit more usability (rear seat and boot space). A car that is fine for a drive to the Alps, but also for a trackday or just a trip to the bakery. Obviously a car to cherish, because rare and special, and to be used for great rides!
About the seller
As already indicated, the current and 2nd owner is a car enthusiast at heart. Especially cars from the late 1970s to mid-1990s era. This manifests itself in a motley collection of several Ford Escorts RS 2000, Kadettjes GT/E and several BMWs M3 of the E 30 series. Most were prepared for rallying and are used for that. According to its current owner, the BMW M4 CS in San Marino Blau Metallic is truly the most beautiful car BMW has produced in recent years. Actually, the car should have had the type designation M3 according to his personal opinion. He bought this beautiful car 2 years ago as a ‘Daily Driver’ from a huge private collection of the previous owner, with only 18700 kilometres on the odometer. In the two years, he has driven it 5000 summer kilometres, but it hurts him when he unexpectedly gets caught in a rain shower or hears the pebbles of bad asphalt rolling through the wheel arches. This car is simply too beautiful and unique for that. It therefore deserves a lover who will cherish it and treat it with even more love.
