About this Collectable

An atmospheric V10, check. Low mileage, check. Iconic M6 badge, check. Three ingredients for a sought-after BMW Collectable. This example goes one step further. This is a very rare manual M6 Convertible!

The low production figures make the rarity of this "unicorn" immediately clear. BMW built a total of 14,152 M6s (Coupé and Cabrio together). Only 701 units left the production line between 2006 and 2010 with a six-speed manual transmission instead of the 7-speed SMG automatic. That amounts to less than 5% of the entire production.

Strangely enough, the demand in America and Canada was the reason for this special edition. In the countries where the automatic transmission has traditionally been so popular, "stickshift" cars are still popular with real enthusiasts. For example, with the arrival of the M6, they saw a manual gearbox in combination with a V10. Blame them. BMW eventually delivered 323 M6 Coupés and 378 M6 Convertibles with manual transmission in these countries. In addition to the M6, the M5 sedan (E60) was also supplied with manual transmission exclusively for North America. However, with 1,296 units, this variant was slightly less rare than the manual M6. If we look at the ratio between USA and Canada models (about 90% vs. 10%), we see that only a handful of Canadian (km / h) versions have been sold.

This M6 Convertible in the color Space Gray left the showroom in Ontario, Canada and is therefore equipped with a familiar kilometer indication instead of miles (option code S548). It also reads all temperatures in Celsius (rather than Fahrenheit).

As the low mileage suggests, the car is in a very neat condition and the interior is in showroom condition.

In the lower revs it is quiet cruising. With a push of the well-known M button (M Dynamic Mode), the power goes from 400 hp to the full 507 hp. The odometer in the head-up display then makes way for a rev counter that goes all the way up to 8,300 rpm. A screaming V10 is the result.

The car was imported from Canada and is not yet registered on Dutch plates. So depending on where the new owner lives the car can be delivered excluding Dutch VAT (21%).

Equipment

Naturally, the manual transmission is the eye-catcher on this M6. Furthermore, this car is equipped with, among other things:

  • Head-up display
  • Heated seats
  • Electric seat adjustment with memory

Remarks

The car is still in very good condition. There are only some small scratches on the rear bumper, as shown in in the photos.

The front bumper and front left were hit by a cyclist in 2016, causing deep scratches. These parts have been resprayed (photo & Carfax report available). As the Carfax report states the airbag did not fire.

Recent maintenance history

The car has had its last maintenance at renowned BMW M & Audi RS specialist Ad van der Horst. There, the M6 received a technical inspection and European programming & software updates.

The car has also been serviced and the differential seal (a known M6 issue) has been replaced. It also passed the oil inspection test (no metal parts in the filters, a indicator for future engine problems).
