BMW 435i GranCoupe High Executive (F36) Manual
BMW's 3-series and 4-series models are the most popular series within the BMW range. With, apart from the entry-level versions, fine engines, a sturdy chassis and plenty of space without being bulky and large. How nice is hat, besides the many versions like sedan, coupé, touring and convertible, BMW also released a 4-door coupé and called it Grancoupé. Mercedes and Volkswagen also had such a model on offer and it gives a well-behaved sedan just that extra bit of sportiness. Plenty has been written and read about the N55 engine. A lovely creamy 6-cylinder, with an early maximum torque of 400NM and 306hp give the car wings. As a result, it can be driven quietly on torque but you won't be short of anything in terms of sports too. Certainly not in the version we offered with manual gearbox. A very rare version of which we could only find 3 at the time of writing in countries more than 1000km away. Furthermore, this is an original Dutch car, from 2nd owner(!) with, of course, a logical NAP odometer reading and a neat service history.
The manual gearbox combined with rear-wheel drive really gives the car an extra dimension and makes this practical and comfortable car yet sporty. Furthermore, it is a super travel car to cover long distances, even with 4 people or extra luggage on board. In addition, the car has been driven with great care, no oil consumption noted and only Super 98 fueled by the owner.
Our opinion
When we hear 335i or 435i, we immediately get excited. Reminds us a bit of the fast E30 325i BMWs we used to have so much fun with. Just short of an M3 or M4, but they are hardly inferior thanks in part to the early torque available. Combined with a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, they are a real treat to drive. As already mentioned almost impossible to buy and with the demise of almost all manual new models a must for someone looking for a fast and serviceable car with lots of driving pleasure.
About the seller
Once a BMW driver, always a BMW driver. A true ‘petrolhead’ and fond of driving real driver's cars. So this is his fifth BMW, always with six-in-line, rear-wheel drive and a manual transmission. Now it is time for the next chapter in his car career. He found the truly perfect combination of a practical car that is also comfortable and sporty. With enough interior space to camp for four weeks and enough power to travel great distances in style. Truly very unique due to its manual transmission, colour, equipment, Dutch delivery, exceptional condition and fantastic N55 block. He has never had to top up even a drop of oil and has always driven it with great respect for the technology. His next car will either be a Porsche 911, or yet another BMW (M3 or M2 with manual transmission).
