Kevin Wild must have enjoyed himself when he started his V12, which he had built by hand himself, for the first time. A delight for the eyes and ears, and naturally with sufficient power, as they say with English understatement. His nameplate proudly adorns the monumental engine block located at the front of one of the most beautiful creations from the early 2000s. Aston Martin has fought for its existence its entire life. However, the legendary brand, which has always been and remains directly linked to the English Secret Agent James Bond, has always managed to keep its head above water. In the early 1990s, there was an urgent need for a modern successor to the V8 models. In collaboration with TWR and Jaguar, the DB7 was developed. A beautifully styled coupe with a powerful engine and rear-wheel drive. Luxuriously finished, fast, and distinguished, entirely in James Bond style. The introduction of the DB7 featured the inline 6 engine borrowed from Jaguar, fitted with a supercharger to give the car the speed befitting an Aston. In 1999, Aston Martin caused a sensation by introducing a 426 hp V12 in the DB7, and the car received the legendary “Vantage” designation. With the V12, both the Coupe and the Volante accelerated to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and reached a top speed of 265 km/h. Coming to our auction this coming week is a DB7 with the massive V12 under the hood, paired with a delightful automatic transmission as befits a convertible, in a chic color combination.
