Alfa Romeo Giulia Super Bollino d'Oro
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is one of the icons in Alfa's heritage. The Giulia Super Bollino d'Oro is a special edition of the Giulia line introduced in honor of the model's success.
The story begins in the years when Alfa Romeo decided to market a sporty sedan. The first generation Giulia was launched as the Giulia Ti in 1962 and was warmly received by Alfaholics at the time.
Over the years, the Giulia underwent several changes, with improved technologies and driving performance. In 1965, the Giulia Super appeared where the Super Bollino d'Oro, introduced in 1967, represented a tribute to the Giulia's rich history. The Bollino d'Oro offers unique features that make the car even more special . The Alfa Romeo Giulia Super is not only a feast for the eyes, but also a pleasure to drive. With its relatively powerful engine, responsive handling and smooth but firm suspension, this car offers an unforgettable driving experience.
During testing, the Giulia Super impressed in terms of driving performance. From acceleration to cornering, this car delivers beyond the standards of its time on all fronts. The classic interior is designed with attention to detail and offers 4 comfortable seats.
Safety is also high on this Giulia Super. With punishing handling, well-guided suspension and disc brakes all around. In addition to the aforementioned driving performance and luxurious interior, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Super has even more to offer, namely the Bollino d'oro package. An interesting fact is that Bollino d'oro means "golden stamp" in Italian, referring to the special insignia that distinguishes this edition.
This Giulia Super Bollino d'oro is equipped with exclusive extras, such as alloy wheels and special interior and exterior finishes. This gives the car a unique look which makes this particular example a special appearance. This is a nicely restored rust free car. Equipped with a recently overhauled 1750 engine with hanging filter, this Giulia is just a little bit quicker than the standard 1600 version. A well-known Alfa specialist has fitted the car with alloy SZ replica wheels (produced by Alfaholics), with new Michelin tires.
Furthermore, all pivot points of the suspension are new and the shock absorbers have been replaced with Bilstein dampers (front) and Koni dampers (rear). The car also has a thicker stabilizer bar for even more stable handling. Differential and cardan have been overhauled. For safety, front seat belts have been installed (not necessary, but nice).
To finish it off, 'Alfaholics' grilles have been fitted in inner headlights. Original headlights still present, as well as the stainless steel strip that belongs on the tubular beams. The owner found these less attractive to match the car. Whether you are looking for a classic sports sedan for daily use or simply have a passion for Alfa Romeo, this fully customized Giulia will no doubt leave a good impression.
Our opinion
A Supertje and then in a special version! That car was way ahead of its time. Fast, good handling and room for 4 people. Not for nothing the Italian carabinieri used it to chase the mafia. In addition, an unmistakable typical Alfaronk from the exhaust and the intake sound of the (mostly) double Webers finish it off. In our opinion, an underrated car until recently, it stood in the shadow of the Bertone coupe and Spider, both equipped with the same suspension. By now, enthusiasts do know how to find the Giulia Super the prices are going in the same direction as the aforementioned coupe and spider. Get in while you still can!
About the seller
The seller has been infected with the car virus since childhood. Several Alfas, as well as Porsches, passed through his collection. Previous Alfa's were even actively raced. This Super was more or less an impulse purchase, partly because of its good condition, after which the car was optimized in terms of suspension, rims and other modifications. Still, the seller found out pretty quickly that a Bertone is his old love and he should look for this.
Equipment
This is a Bollino d'Oro version, with a different grille, extra chrome on the front window surround and extra trim strips. The engine compartment is also illuminated in this version.
