About this Collectable

Abarth 695 BiPosto

The origins of the Fiat 500 are 89 years behind us. In 1936, Fiat released the 500 Topolino, which was not revised until 1957 as the Nuova 500, one of the most famous and especially cuddly cars on the planet. Incredibly popular, especially in homeland Italy. Relieved by the less popular Fiat 126 and later as a front-wheel-drive car, the Cinquecento. The real (modern) lookalike returned to the market in 2007 as the Fiat 500 and was once again a success. As in the early years, Abarth got involved in this Fiat range again. By now owned by the group, so that was easy to switch gears. Quite a few specials were made by Abarth, with the Abarth 695 Biposto being the fiercest Fiat 500 ever made. 190hp on just under 1000kg make it a first-class bomb anyway.

An expensive little bombshell, though, as the original Dutch-delivered example we are offering here cost almost 80,000 euros. All options that can be ordered are present, including the dog-ring transmission, lexan windows, limited slip differential, etc. etc. As the name suggests, this is a 2-seater where the rear seat has been replaced by a Titanium frame with a net to store your helmet. Furthermore, an enormous amount of carbon fibre has been used, together with the light alloy bonnet, to minimise weight. You will look in vain for a radio, as well as heavy door handles, radio or air conditioning. Similarly, the racing seats with 4-point belts from Sabelt are 10 kilos lighter than the ‘normal’ Abarth seats. And specially developed 18-inch rims by OZ provide a weight reduction are 7 kilos.  Actually, we are talking about an Abarth 911 RS here. Not only is the philosophy the same, but Abarth, like Porsche, dares to charge a (much) higher price for less..... Everything here is about performance and driving pleasure, and you notice and feel that in everything. ‘Adding’ less weight (Colin Chapman's philosophy) has a great effect on the handling and the whole experience of the car. Despite its cuddly looks, it is definitely not a car for beginners. The plentiful power and torque, combined with the limited slip differential, clearly has its effect on the forces acting on the steering wheel, ensuring optimum traction and performance.

Our opinion

Super rare in this trim and then equipped with everything that was orderable at the time this makes it perhaps the smallest true supercar. An Abarth that you can immediately take to the track thanks to all the modifications such as brakes, suspension, engine etc. Although the first owner had to take some depreciation, we dare say that this is an absolute collector's car. Completely original, damage-free, hardly any mileage and delivered new in the Netherlands are the ingredients for a true Collectable!
