About this Collectable
This is a VAT-exempt lot, so your bid includes VAT.
The first Golf was produced on March 29, 1974. Unlike the Beetle, the Golf featured a water-cooled four-cylinder engine, a monocoque body, a hatchback, front-wheel drive, and was designed by Giugiaro. In 1978, the Golf received a minor facelift. Plastic bumpers replaced steel bumpers, and some minor modifications were made.
The example offered here was part of the unique youngtimer collection from the Audi factory in Brussels (which closed years ago), which was brought to the Netherlands last year. According to the factory, it is likely the very last Golf 1 produced. It is a 5-door model in Diamond Silver Metallic and equipped with features including a tachometer, the famous 4+E gearbox, and alloy wheels with "extra-wide" Goodyear tires. A radio and headrests are not included, further enhancing the pure character of this Golf. The 1500cc engine with 70 hp easily handles the 800 kg Golf.
Unlike the other cars in the Brussels Collection, this Golf has a Belgian registration certificate, is completely original, and with only 36 kilometers on the odometer, it's naturally in mint condition.
Our Opinion
We've searched extensively, but a "truly" brand-new (hello Rick) Golf 1 is nowhere to be found. Moreover, the car has a fully traceable history and everything is still 100% original. In short, anyone looking for a gem for their collection can't miss out on this Golf.
