The Porsche 964 Carrera Cup is the hardcore racing version of the Porsche 964 Carrera 2, introduced in 1990. The 964 Cup paved the way for the modern Porsche Carrera (GT3) Cup, which has become a global success. With only a few dozen built annually, it has become a highly exclusive car that rarely comes onto the market. Key features included a 3.6-litre air-cooled flat-six engine optimized and fine-tuned to produce approximately 275 hp, a fully stripped interior, a racing suspension, a Matter roll cage, upgraded brakes, and a limited-slip differential. Weight was reduced by a massive 200 kg, bringing the car's total weight to just over 1,100 kg. Although the Cup cars were sold exclusively for racing, a few (later) owners managed to have them road-registered. Coming up for auction with us next week is a first-series 964 Cup featuring—rarely!—matching body, engine, and chassis numbers. In addition, it is in running condition, comes with its full racing history (ONS vehicle passport) from day one, and is registered in the Netherlands.
