More than 70 years after its introduction, the Land Rover really needs no introduction. It hails from an era when an off-road vehicle was closer to a tractor than to a ‘luxury car’ (read: SUV) that simply sat a bit higher off the ground. Yet, throughout decades of production, it was continuously improved without compromising the original concept. There is no doubt that an original Series 2 is a collector's item—especially a relatively rare example like this fully restored 109 Pick-up. Coming up for auction with us next week is a Series 2 in exceptionally fine condition. We would go so far as to say that, in some respects, the vehicle is better than new. It is a true classic car that is exempt from the Dutch periodic inspection (APK) and road tax, and—remarkably—is subject to absolutely no restrictions regarding low-emission zones.
