Porsche Cayman 987

The 911 is, of course, a fantastic sports car, but to drive, the mid-engine Cayman is at least as much fun and, secretly, perhaps even better... With the first generation Boxster, you could not choose a coupe variant, but that changed with the 987 generation. Porsche's compact two-seater sports car was now also available as a coupe. The Cayman was born. The Cayman was given a look all its own, with a sloping rear end. With its 2.7-liter Boxer engine, the Cayman boasts 245 hp. More than enough to get the Cayman, weighing only 1,275 kg, moving quickly; a driver's car through and through, thanks in part to the mid-engine and the rigid body.

Now in our auction is an original Dutch-delivered example, with a complete history and largely in its original paint. This Cayman was delivered by Porsche Leusden to the first owner in 2006. The Cayman was initially used by the importer as a company car, after which the first private owner took over. Thanks to the manual gearbox, the Cayman drives very sportily. The 17-inch wheels might look slightly less rugged, but they provide very entertaining handling that you rarely encounter these days. It is a real throw-around car, perfectly suitable as a daily driver or for a sporty drive to the Alps. The Cayman is a neat example with an attractive (and verifiable) mileage.

Our opinion

Anyone who has ever driven a Cayman knows it well. A car to really enjoy driving without having to sacrifice comfort. With the 2.7-liter engine, it is not overpowered, but coupled with the manual gearbox, it is a rare and enjoyable car to drive. Moreover, the 2.7-liter engines are much less prone to the issues of water-cooled engines. Unfortunately, they are no longer made like that. Step into the most fun-to-drive Porsche for a price that is still normal today! 

About the seller

The last owner traded in the Cayman for a Porsche Boxster Spyder. He owned the Cayman for about 6 years but drove it very little due to a busy work schedule.
