About this Collectable

A lightweight convertible with a mid-engine, it doesn't get much better than that. This is a Boxster of the 981 generation, the last regular Boxster that still has the six-cylinder. This example is original Dutch, from the second owner with only 62,050 km.

The 987 Boxster was already a very well balanced sports car, and with the 981 Porsche improved this recipe even further. And - unlike its follow-up - this Boxster still has the six-cylinder. You can therefore see the 981 as the sweet spot in the Boxster lineup.

Like its big brother, the 911, the Boxster features a six-cylinder boxer engine. Hence the name. The great advantage of the Boxster is that it has a proper mid-engine, rather than an engine in the rear. This makes the Boxster a car that is perfectly balanced in every way.

Another crucial aspect is weight. Weighing 1,325 kg, the 981 Boxster S is one of the lightest modern Porsches. That also makes it immediately one of the most fun. For that, 315 hp and 360 Nm is more than enough. This is good for 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.

Of course, the Boxster is not made to drive hard straight. This is a thoroughbred sports car that comes into its own when cornering. We dare say that there are few cars that offer more driving pleasure than a Boxster....

Also not unimportant: the roof can be opened for even more experience. This is done in a mere 9 seconds, making it one of the fastest opening convertible roofs. Thanks to the use of magnesium, the roof is also particularly light.

This particular example is stylisch finished in GT Silver metallic. Combined with the natural leather Carrera red interior, and red convertible top. Furthermore, this is a fully equipped version including: 20-inch Carrera S wheels, BOSE Surround Sound System, Porsche Active Suspencion Management and Sport Chrono Package Plus.

This is an original Dutch delivered Porsche. Every service, until the last one on 11-05-2023, has been done at an official Porsche dealer. The complete history can be traced through the service booklet, as well as through invoices.

Our opinion
Let's face it, with Dutch traffic and matching speed limits there is little fun to be had with monsters with 500hp. Here you mainly have to rely on the B-roads. See here the reason to drive a convertible, so that you can enjoy it optimally even at lower speeds. And in that segment, the Boxster comes out victorious in comparative tests time and again.

The Boxster buyer undergoes the same doubt, discussion and opinions as the Cayman driver; "why not a 911?". Of course, the Elf is the Great Example. With iconic status, which virtually every car enthusiast has dreamed about since the age of 5. But although all the disadvantages of an engine in the butt have since been developed out of it by engineers, mid-engine Porsches remain ideal, compact throw-and-go cars. With a trunk front and back, too, so you can actually take it on vacation. Then take away the lower prices compared to the 911 and you have the best modern Porsche-per-euro.

This particular Boxster is the ideal model as far as we are concerned. Original Dutch, maintained and serviced to perfection and a very complete model. And also always good: it is the spicier S version.
